Overview
Bill is a nationally board-certified licensed acupuncturist who applies a variety of acupuncture and physical medicine techniques to treat a broad spectrum of disorders. He has a primary focus in acute and chronic pain, digestive issues, anxiety, menopausal symptoms, migraines/headaches, cancer-related side effects, trigeminal neuralgia, vertigo and insomnia.
From a severely sprained ankle to 4th stage cancer, Bill meets you where you’re at in your healing journey, providing an adjunctive healing modality to accelerate your progress. He has also developed professional relationships with local healthcare professionals to refer patients who may need a neurosurgeon, nutritionist, internist, or physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor dysfunction.
Experience
Bill has more than 20 years of clinical experience in both private and hospital-based practices (Inova Fairfax), is the author of more than 150 publications, and is involved with promoting integrative healthcare in the United States.
He began his career as an Aerospace Engineer, flight-testing helicopters with the U.S. Navy, putting satellites in space with the U.S. Air Force Space Test Program, and supporting the director of flight test for the Joint Strike Fighter program. He continued his education pursuing master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology and Systems Engineering at George Mason University. He then made the decision to change careers and studied acupuncture and oriental medicine under professors and graduates of Beijing and Shanghai medical schools in 1997 at the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese medicine. He was President of his class, and the first student to serve on the Board of Directors of the University.
Bill wants to promote acupuncture on both a state and federal level and served on the Board of Directors of organizations to advance acupuncture in mainstream healthcare. He was an adjunct professor at Georgetown School of Medicine and core faculty at Virginia University of Integrative Medicine and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Integrative Health Policy Consortium. He also volunteers as a peer reviewer for four national medical journals.

Treatment Approach
Two vital components are missing from U.S. healthcare: “Health” and “Care.” Bill offers compassionate patient-centered healing with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention. Drawing from his science background, he practices evidence-based acupuncture where his protocols are based on randomized controlled trials, and is considered by many of his patients as the “ouchless” acupuncturist, using the least number of needles to achieve the best results.
He embraces patient-centered care by sharing the decision-making process from the first visit through to resolution of symptoms and optimizing health.
